At-home LED masks are one of my personal favourite when it comes to beauty tech, but are they actually worth the hype?
To put things in context, LED light treatment has been actually popular for a while. These lights were discovered back in the 60s by NASA to help astronauts to heal their skin due to the demanding circumstance they were exposed. So here is the question, if LED light could help the healing process of the astronaut’s skin, can they actually make magic for us?

Dr. Dennis Gross SpectraLite FaceWare Pro Review
I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Dr. Dennis Gross SpectraLite FaceWare Pro a while ago, and I’ve been putting it to the test ever since to see if this viral LED mask actually lives up to the hype.
Let’s start with this: yes, it looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. And yes, it’s also one of the easiest skincare devices I own. I have a couple of other LED masks at home, but this one? By far the most user-friendly. It’s wireless, lightweight, so comfortable, and in three minutes you are done. I can wear it while I’m tidying up, cleaning, replying emails or chasing after my toddler.
The routine is simple: I wash and dry my face, pop on the mask, select the light mode I want, and go about my day. After three minutes, it powers off automatically. I like to give it a quick wipe with an alcohol pad to keep it clean and ready for the next session.
But does it work? The short answer: yes — if you use it consistently. Dr. Dennis Gross recommends four sessions a week for 90 days, and that’s when I started seeing real changes. The texture of my skin smoothed out, post-acne pigmentation faded faster, and breakouts became way less frequent. It’s now a go-to in my routine, even when travelling, I always make sure to keep space in my hand luggage for this bad boy.
As for results on wrinkles, I can’t say just yet — I’m very lucky I don’t have any deep wrinkles yet to test it on. But according to clinical trials, 97% of users reported visible improvement in fine lines and wrinkles after just two weeks of daily use. If that’s on your radar, it’s definitely something to note.
Now for the big question: is it worth the price tag? It’s not pocket change, but if you’re someone who gets in-clinic LED treatments regularly (which can range from $190–$350 per session), the math actually makes sense. You get unlimited access at home, and even if the at-home strength isn’t quite as powerful as an in-office device, the consistency more than makes up for it.
In short? If you’re looking for something to improve skin tone, support acne-prone skin, and give your glow a serious upgrade — and you know you’ll stick with it — the FaceWare Pro is a worthy splurge.
