French favourite beauty brand La Roche-Posay has finally released in Australia the soul mate of cult favourite Cicaplast B5 balm.
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum has been created to soothe and repair sensitive skin. I’m such a big fan of the Cicaplast B5 sheet mask and Cicaplast B5 balm, so naturally, when La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum landed on my doorstep, I had to give it a go.

What Is the La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum?
According to the brand, the new hydrating serum is formulated with 10% vitamin B5, proven to hydrate and repair sensitive feeling skin, providing 24-hour hydration and two times faster recovery of the skin’s moisture barrier from triggers that cause dryness, redness, tightness and discomfort.
Jodi Hindmarsh, La Roche-Posay Medical Communications Manager, says, “The number one skin concern amongst Australians is dry, dehydrated skin. In fact, 40 per cent of consumers say they require a hydrating serum, particularly after gentle cosmetic skin procedures or because of environmental stressors – which can compromise the skin’s barrier and make it less effective at repairing itself. LA ROCHE-POSAY’s new Cicaplast B5 Serum is optimal for dealing with dry and sensitive skin, helping to provide the rapid hydration required to accelerate the skin’s repair.”

La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Serum Review
To get things clear, I usually don’t get very excited with hydrating kinds of serums just because I can’t visibly see results straight away — Even though I know they are great for maintaining my skin barrier healthy — However, I recently had the opportunity to try and test Fresh Tea Elixir Skin Resilience Activating Serum, and I loved the long-term effect I could see on my skin thanks to the Fresh’s hydrating serum, so when I heard that La Roche-Posay had released the bestie of my favourite hydrating sheet mask, La Roche-Posay Cicaplast sheet mask, I knew it would be worth giving it a whirl.
For full disclosure, I don’t have sensitive skin, — So I can’t really speak for those who have sensitive skin — But I do have acne-prone skin, so trialling hydrating serums is always risky for me as they tend to break out my skin; however since I started adding the new La Roche-Posay Cicaplast B5 Ultra Repair Serum into my routine the results have been impressive, and I haven’t gotten any new pimples since.
The texture itself is pretty thick and doesn’t have any smell. It sinks in beautifully, adding that extra boost of radiance we all are looking to achieve. It’s a great option to pair with your vitamin C or to use after retinol nights or even exfoliating treatments thanks to the high concentration of vitamin B5 that helps to increase hydration and reduce epidermal water loss.
I like to apply one or two drops on my whole face — a little goes a long way — In the morning with fresh skin before my vitamin C. I gently press onto the skin and wait until the serum is fully absorbed, then add my vitamin C and SPF and am ready to walk out of the door.
The Final Verdict
I found La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Ultra Repair B5 Serum a great option to have in hand for everyday needs — From impaired skin barrier, breakouts, sensitive skin… the list goes on — It is packed with the most smooth ingredients that make it a great hydrating serum for every skin needs. Its price point sits in the middle, which I personally found not too bad for the kind of ingredients and research behind it, so if you are looking for a hydrating serum to complement your skincare routine and elevate it to the next level; this is your guy.
