Thanks to the nature of my job, I’m lucky enough to trial a lots of beauty products — fragrance included, which just so happens to be one of my all-time favourite categories. That said, I’m also a creature of habit. Once I fall in love with a scent, I find it really hard to stray. My perfume shelf is full of bottles, but there are only a select few I actually reach for on repeat.
That all changed recently on set. Between touch-ups and coffee runs, I kept catching whiffs of something that completely stopped me in my tracks. It was unlike your typical street scent — soft yet smoky, a little mysterious, almost herbaceous, and interesting twist to the classic warm woody fragrance. It reminded me of Le Labo Thé Noir 29 but with a more grounded, nature-forward twist. I had to know who was wearing it.
Byredo de los Santos Fragrance Review
When I finally asked, the answer? Byredo De Los Santos… I’ve always been a fan of the brand — a few of their cult scents already live on my shelf, but this one somehow flew under my radar. Naturally, I did what any curious beauty editor would do — run straight to Mecca and spritzed it on my skin. And oh wow… I was hooked.
De Los Santos is an addictive blend of sage and citrus that dries down into something woody, soft, and slightly mystical, thanks to the mix of amber, musk, and palo santo. It’s clean, a little earthy, and beautifully complex. There’s a brightness to it, yet it has depth — This is not your average crowd-pleaser the kind of scent, It’s refined, intriguing, and effortlessly cool.
Byredo de los Santos Fragrance Notes
• Top: Clary Sage, Mirabelle
• Heart: Orris, Ciste Oil
• Base: Musk, Ambroxan, Palo Santo
What makes it even more special? It adapts to your skin. On me, the sage and palo santo take the lead with a soft, grounding finish. On a friend, it turned bright and almost sweet, which somehow, it feels deeply personal no matter who’s wearing it. I’ve been wearing it nonstop ever since, and let’s just say the compliments roll in constantly. It’s become my go-to for day-to-night wear — chic enough for an evening out, yet light enough to spritz on a summer morning.
I’ve gotten so into Byredo De Los Santos, I even found myself raving about it on a call with my sidekick Allie — (Our beauty writer you might be familiar with). A few days later, guess what landed straight at my door? Byredo De Los Santos Hand Cream. Yep, she got me. Now I’m fully layering myself in this Palo Santo scent and honestly? I’m not mad about it.
If you’re into slightly smoky, musky scents like Le Labo Thé Noir 29 or Maison Louis Marie No.04, I highly recommend to run to your closest Mecca and give this one a try. Not only does it last so well on the skin, but it has that subtle, enigmatic quality that keeps people asking, “What are you wearing?” You’re welcome.
