It’s time to clear out more than just your pantry & wardrobe and here at CF we spoke with self-confessed skincare & natural beauty junkie, Carla King-Turner, how to stand and saying no to unnecessary toxins, no to animal cruelty, and no to products that fall short of their promises… natural beauty
Many people are surprised to find out just how many toxins are lurking in their beauty bag. These unnecessary toxins in our beauty & personal skincare not only wreak havoc on our skin, but the planet, too.
Compromising our skin health & the planet in order to achieve radiant skin is really a thing of the past, and Carla will tell you why. natural beauty natural beauty natural beauty natural beauty natural beauty
Do Natural and Non-Toxic Ingredients Work?
Today, we are fortunate enough to have access to skincare products that contain incredible active ingredients. These ingredients are clinically proven to improve the appearance of our skin as well as support ageing skin by reducing the appearance of fine lines & wrinkles.
Active ingredients are those which are derived from nature. Chemical compounds found in nature and in our body are therefore synergistic with our skin. This is why active ingredients are so effective when it comes to skin health.
In Australia, we have an abundance of local brands that use indigenous & wild harvested ingredients which are rich in vitamins & antioxidants. We have some the most potent organic botanical extracts & cutting-edge scientific peptides all right here on our doorstep.
These wild harvested ingredients, coupled with the new beauty category of Collagen Peptide & beauty supplements, means we are in a fantastic position to achieve our healthiest & happiest skin. By choosing these natural skincare alternatives, you will not only achieve a youthful complexion, but you will also protect our planet. All with absolutely zero compromise. In fact, with the reduction of toxins, & replacing those toxins with gut loving nutrition, your inner health is in for a treat, too.
Unfortunately, though, it is not as easy as picking up the first product you see labelled as ‘non-toxic’ or ‘natural’. Greenwashing & marketing hype is widespread in the clean beauty category. Natural beauty is the fastest growing category globally, so, naturally, everyone wants a slice.
What is Greenwashing & Label Claims?
The prime marketing real estate for any brand is the front of their packaging. This is where you should look for potential marketing claims that may not be entirely truthful. For example, some skincare labels may say “now with Vitamin C”, yet if you take a closer look at the ingredients, you may find that the Vitamin C content is not adequate to have any beneficial effect.
The good news is that ingredient labelling is more stringent than ever, which means as consumers, you can make informed choices. Remember that ingredients are listed in descending order, so whatever is listed first is contained in the greatest volume.
CARLA’S TIP
Look for the Accreditations
To make it easier to separate the good products from the not-so-good, we have a number of accreditations here in Australia that you can look for on product packaging. These are a green light for those confused with ingredient lists, as only the best of the best are given accreditation.
You will find these on the side of the box:
So, here is her challenge to you, clean beauty friends.
