How did you get started as an Influencer?
I was a model at first for a couple years, which helped a lot with being in front of a camera. As I saw social media kind of trending, I decided to give it a try. I quit modeling and soon, over the course of three years, became a blogger & content creator.
Your college major was English and Marketing. How do you think this has helped you as a social media influencer?
I did college for about 3 years, and then decided that it wasn’t for me.
I did excel in English as you can guess which helps a lot with my blogging skills!
I learned more out here by myself trying to manage my work, research the social media and fashion industry, doing my taxes, finding my niche, developing what I like, investing thousands in a bikini brand, countless trial and error, how to grow on all media channels, making my profile a profitable business, and so much more that has led me to succeed. Everyday I keep striving to excel even further! AND I love what I do 🙂
What’s the best advice you can give to aspiring influencers?
To do and post what you love! Find that niche and make it yours!
I have had so many transitions of what I should post or create. Tried many things!
I followed a while trends of posting and collaborating in a certain way from what I saw on IG, but abruptly stopped and did what I felt like doing. So YOU do YOU and the rest will follow!
How do you remain authentic to your own style when collaborating with other brands?
When I collaborate with brands, I decide whether to partner or not based on if I could use this in my daily life and routine. If it does, I will gladly partner but if not I usually kindly pass.
I stay authentic and creating organic content based on what I can actually use, and if it’s suited to my lifestyle and personal brand/style.
I wouldn’t want to be advertising or creating content for things that does not correlate with me or my aesthetic. In that case I choose wisely! 🙂
How has the recent spotlight on sustainability in the Fashion Industry changed the way you think about working with brands?
I’m constantly look into it. If it is sustainable it’s always a plus for me, because I am benefiting myself and the environment. Two of my favourite brands that I love are Boyish Jeans and Reformation. It’s changed the way I partner with brands because I tend to ask more about how items are produced, if they’re vegan, etc…
I notice myself asking questions to brands that are more in depth about who they are and if they design and create in a more positive way.
I know not ALL known brands are sustainable, but it does have me thinking more often about it.
Who do you look to for style inspiration?
Oh man! This is a great question. I have many favourites but I think my truly favourites when looking for style inspo are: @mvb, @xeniaadonts, @annacarlaesimona, @brittanyxavier & @leoniehanne.
What is one fashion trend that you hope doesn’t go out of style?
TINY BAGS! I love small bags. I haven’t bought one big bag ever haha!
I’m not such a big bag kind of gal, I only bring the essentials along: keys, wallet, phone, lip balm and that’s it!
So would love for more small bags to come out and keep trending. I’m always on the lookout! Also just partnered with a brand for a capsule collection of small bags with @studio33nyc! Be sure to check them; they are adorable!
What does a typical work day in Macy’s week looks like?
So Sunday I start planning my week. I look over any emails to draft or respond to, starting Monday fresh and up to date.
I am extremely organised. If one thing is out of place, I’m a mess LOL.
A typical day can either be a shoot day or brand outreach day. I’ll organise two shoots and do 5-8 looks/partnerships in one day or I’ll go to a coffee shop or stay home and doing emails all day, emailing brands to collaborate, seeing if any campaigns, or even travel opportunities arise. When Monday starts, I’m a busy woman haha. I’ll do each kind of day 2-3 times a week. Phew!
What does your beauty routine look like?
My beauty routine: Less is more. I use a cleanser every time in the shower, wash my face once or depending twice a day.
Then, after a simple toner and moisturiser will end it!
Before I put on some makeup on I do use a primer from Laura Mercier. I like to know I have a base on my face to moisturise before I put on any makeup!
