Whether you’re touching up at your WFH desk or paying a visit to a salon for your next function we want to share with you 9 easy makeup mistakes that go unnoticed by us, but it makes the difference in the final result, especially if you want to keep looking natural with makeup.
1. We use too much product
One of the makeup mistakes that we make most often is clearly the use of too many products. And that implies a generalized excess of foundation, tanning products, and powders. A good way to start applying makeup is to minimize the amounts of products and avoid dense textures in specific areas. Makeup is a very valuable and powerful tool but you have to know how and when to use it. Even the same product can be super versatile and multifunctional if we know and understand its use.
2. We choose the wrong concealer shades
Another universal makeup mistake that we are not aware of is choosing a very light concealer to cover dark circles. We mistakenly believe that with a clear tone we will mitigate the darkness of this area, but the result can be ended up very badly. The reason? When a very light pigment is deposited in a very dark zone, the result is grey and, consequently, the famous panda bear effect that nobody won’t like to have.
3. We confuse highlighter with concealer
Sometimes, driven by our desire to give some light to the dark circles, we use the illuminator in that area without control. But we are wrong as the concealer neutralizes a dark pigment in a specific area, while the illuminator highlights the dark circles.
4. We don’t spend enough time prepping our skin
The better the state of our skin, the less amount of makeup we will have to use. Before applying your makeup, go for a mini facial massage and If you are afraid of using an oily moisturizer before applying makeup, Charlotte Tilbury just launched their Magic Cream Light that leaves the skin looking perfect and with plenty of light, it treats the skin at the same time as illuminates it while avoiding a huge makeup mistake.
5. We force ourselves to use makeup brushes
We can also have a supernatural finish when you apply your makeup with your fingers. A personal trick is to apply the base first with the brush to achieve perfect uniformity, and then finish the process with your fingers by gently tapping to remove the excess to achieve that second-skin effect.
6. We use wrong the mascara
Not reaching the root of the eyelash with the brush is another makeup mistake as it’s essential because this is the only way to lift the eyelash.
7. We don’t use an eyelash curler
Sometimes we don’t use curler because of fear, laziness, or ignorance and yes, we were wrong. People are unaware of the immense power of eyelash curlers, the most common mistake is not to use it. Much more product is saved immediately and the results are much more spectacular.
8. We think that compact powders are the best solution for oily skin
Another classic makeup mistake is to believe that compact powders are the best solution for oily skin when you try to get rid of the sebum in the skin with a big amount of powder. Our skin needs to breathe so use makeup powders in a very precise and limited way and only in specific areas, leaving the rest as free-of-makeup as possible.
9. We get frustrated
I think that in general terms the makeup process becomes more complex than it really is. It is important to set realistic goals. Not wanting to recreate very elaborate looks because the result is probably not as in the reference image and frustration will be generated and/or the product will be blamed. Start with beautiful, healthy skin, a natural blush, a mascara, a lipstick … and keep going practicing the technique and add elements or products once you have mastered the processes and forget about makeup mistakes just enjoy the ride.
