Learning the Aromatherapy Meaning

Pat’s encounter with essential oils began in her 30’s in Bali. From the moment the sweet exotic notes of jasmine oil ran through her noes, she knew it was something that she had to take with her through her life journey. So that’s what she did. At the time, She was fully immersed in her teaching career, and it was not long before the allure of pure essential oils drew her into aromatherapy. Along with their healing ability, she captivated her senses and transitioned to teaching aromatherapy courses.

“I left the teaching of Shakespeare to pursue those of Basil and Rosemary”, Pat said.

Since that time, she has never looked back. She enjoys sharing the delights of aromatherapy and empowers women to use oils safely for pleasure and healing in all areas of their lives. Since 1998, she has overseen all educational aspects for two leading Australian brands, In Essence, and Oil Garden. Known to be in total control of the production of all the products and dispensing each drop of oil with care into every bottle in their laboratories in Melbourne is genuinely satisfying.

a few drops of essential oil in an air diffuser to cleanse the atmosphere from germs

A Scented Life

Essential oils could be used in different ways; the most versatile method of delivery is Diffusion. A few drops released into the air will not only rid the space of germs but also will help you unwind at the end of a hectic day.

Massage is also a very effective method of use to target specific areas of the body. Pat recommends adding a few drops to 5ml (1 tsp) coconut oil and massage into the skin or even add to bath water as directed to promote a sense of calm and relax the body. The surge in interest in aromatherapy has led to many new delivery systems such as roll-ons, balms, and mists, to name a few.

These magic oils could also be used for acne-prone skin, according to Pat. You just need to choose gentle antiseptic ones such as lavender, patchouli, and tea tree. It won’t only help you manage acne-prone skin but will also work at a deeper level of high bacteria. The tip from Pat is to simply wet a cotton pad and add a few drops of one of these oils, as mentioned earlier, to cleanse skin morning and night. As each skin type is different is better to do a patch test on the elbow before using them.

Pat says, “A few drops of bergamot in a mist bottle will soothe and calm acne-prone skin throughout the day.”

She emphasizes that you need to make sure to avoid exposure to the sun. One drop of lavender added to your skin moisturizer won’t only fight infection but also help reduce inflammation.

“That’s a hard one, as the choices are endless”, she said.

“There are over 200 essential oils to choose from. However, my top picks and go-to oils include Neroli. It is an exquisite floral scent and my favourite. It is such a potent nerve tonic and excellent rejuvenating skin oil. I use vibrant citrus notes such as bergamot and lime for their freshness and delicious scent. Herbs are also highly rated in my repertoires, such as peppermint and rosemary, for their impact on mental fatigue and lavender and chamomile for their profoundly relaxing and soothing action on the body. And then the masters of healing, frankincense and cedar wood, are regularly combined to impact the central nervous system and general well-being effect!”
