A clean home really is one of life’s simple pleasures – there’s just something amazing and calming about walking into a clean and tidy space that feels wonderful, and it’s really worth doing. But doesn’t it take a long time and lots of hard work to make your home look great (and keep it that way)? Not necessarily. In fact, it might be easier to stay on top of things than you thought, and with that in mind, here are some useful cleaning habits for a sparkling home.

Start Small And Stay Consistent

The real trick to a sparkling home isn’t tackling it all at once – it’s about doing things little and often. So you could make sure you make your bed every morning, for example, always wipe down the kitchen counters after cooking or prepping food, and do a quick sweep or tidy of the high-traffic areas every day.

When it comes to doing a more thorough clean, there’ll be less to do because you’ve been keeping up with things as you go along, and it’ll be much less overwhelming and time-consuming, meaning you’re more likely to get it all done.

Focus On The Floors

Your floors probably get dirtier than any other surface in your home, but they’re also probably the area you think about least when it comes to cleaning (apart from a quick sweep or vacuum, that is). And sweeping and vacuuming (and mopping come to that) are definitely vital things to do as they’ll keep it all looking nice and fresh, but don’t forget about some deeper cleaning too.

The fact is that when it comes to carpet cleaning, professional help is often the best thing you can get, and it’s good practice to hire experts to clean your carpets at least once a year, if not every six months. In that way, you’ll know you’ve got the cleanest carpets possible, and that’s a good base to start from.

Make Cleaning Convenient

You might start off with the best intentions to clean your home and make it shine, but it can all become very frustrating when you’ve got to lug your cleaning supplies from room to room to make it happen. In the end, you might just give up because it’s far too much effort and you feel as though you’re just taking things from one room to another and back again – no one wants to do that.

That’s why it’s better to work out a system that’s going to make cleaning more convenient, which means it’s going to be far less frustrating and easier to get through. One good idea is to keep a small caddy of cleaning essentials like multi-purpose sprays, cloths, a duster, and so on in each area (hidden away, of course) so you don’t have to carry anything anywhere – apart from the vacuum in most cases. And something else that’s sure to help is if you have a plan, and that plan involves cleaning each room one at a time rather than doing all the dusting then all the vacuuming and so on. That way, you can do one room a day and complete it, rather than feeling as though you’ll never get it all done.
