If there is one day in our life that we want to look really stunning, it’s the day you get married. The reason why? You are the centre of attention, It’s – hopefully – one in a lifetime, and it’s a day full of flashes and memorable moments. Most people would love to look fresh, glowing, and natural, but wedding hair has the additional requirement to treat and prevent any damage before the big day.
There are a few things to keep in mind when trying to figure out how to treat and what to do with your hair on your wedding day, so we asked Schwarzkopf Professional ambassador Natalie Anne her thoughts when it comes to Bridal hair trends in 2021 and 2022 and how to take care of the hair health before the wedding.

How to take care of the hair health before the wedding
We would encourage all of our brides to go on a bridal hair journey which would consist of maintaining their hair for six months before the wedding day. We can then start designing what their hair would ideally look like on the big day and work backwards from their dream hair to determine how we will get there. I would suggest a good home hair care routine starting with a hydrating and repair shampoo and conditioner and then an intense deep hydration mask once a week.
We would then have a consultation about the dream colour for their dream style on their wedding day. Many brides like to lighten hair before their big day, which often helps the style stay in place. In the salon, we are using BLONDME Premium Lighter 9+, a quality bond-enforcing bleach, to ensure hair stays healthy and shiny.
Do you recommend getting a haircut before the wedding?
I recommend having your hair cut every 8-12 weeks, depending on the length of your hair. This is to start shaping and tidying up the hair and getting rid of split ends prior to the wedding day.
How to choose the hair style for the big date?
A great hair style is not about your dress or your wedding theme. A great hair style will frame your face and make you feel the most beautiful on the day.
For short-hair brides: If they want to go longer, this is always an option to consider, but we love our short-haired clients to remain short, and exaggerating a part, either far right or far left, will always give you a dressier feel. Loads of volume and little tuck behind the ear is always my go-to.
For medium length hair: I would always suggest working with extensions to ensure that your style lasts all night.
For long hair clients: I would always suggest a layered hair cut to ensure that the right shape and sustainability is obtained for the longest day of your life.
Top hair trends for brides in 2021 that we will see in 2022?
Retro hair is not going anywhere; it’s a trend that is here to say. We are seeing less deep indentation in glam waves, more of a full, voluminous blow-out effect for hair worn down.
For hair worn up, we are seeing a lot more texture, with undone, lived in styling. Less manicured, less bridal, more red carpet looks are here to stay. I’ve also got this new obsession with wet and really glossy, healthy-looking hair. Especially when you are working with blonde hair. I like to pull it back, make sure she looked as shiny as possible with something like BLONDME Wonders Glaze Mist, brushing the hair back, so you can see all the brush marks. I would use loads of pearls and diamonds scattered throughout the whole head, which is really beautiful and romantic.
